25 Sat. Up around 8. Flew through the work. Whole family came in to town, 11 o’clock. Men went to the sale a Halbrite. We had a lunch in the club. We girls walked up to the hospital & saw Mrs. McGugan for a half-hour. Then we went to the show. “Stage-Door Canteen”. Fairly good, but I was disappointed in it. Home & had supper. Gave lessons tonight.
26 Sun. Did homework this morning. Had lunch, then Isabelle & I went upstairs, & she helped me study Chemistry. Mom invited Stutts for supper, so I had to quit. They came about five. Had supper. Went home about 8.30. Bed at 9.30
27 Mon. Mr. S. brought Dad, Dean & we girls to town. Doris stayed after 4 for a meeting. I went down town, did shopping, had last inoculation. Doris studied Chemistry tonight. I did quite a bit of homework. Bed fairly late.
28 Tues. I got 12 out of 20 in Chemistry. Singing practice after four. Doris went down right after supper, then to Grays to a meeting. I did very little homework. Did my hair, washed stockings. Went to bed at nine as I had a headache & was nearly dead.
29 Wed. Nice day. Doris went down town before noon, so came back & had dinner nearly ready when I got home. We both went to Bennets after 4, Sadie wan’t there. Supper late. Did home work. Had cold cocoa and cookies for lunch.
30 Thurs. Studied Lit. in my hour period. Had singing after four. I went down town. Doris got supper. We stayed home this evening and did homework. Went to the rink, then down town & had ice-cream sundae.
31 Fri. I packed my suitcase at noon. Took the porch curtains down after four. Dad came to the room for us. Stutts were in too. Also Mom. I saw Sadie, we stopped at Bennings & got Mary Lou. She stayed here for supper, then Harry & Mr L came after her. I gave Wilma & Shirley each a lesson. Also read the papers.

These are the diaries of a seventeen-year-old teenager from a farm near Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Her name is Lorraine. She eventually was a church organist in Colgate. In 1944 she was the piano player for a dance band in Weyburn. She had to move from the farm into town to attend school for Grade 12. This is the darkest time in World War II. Weyburn hosted an airbase for BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan). In other words, the town is filled with eligible young airmen from all over the world …
