Mon May 22 I drove Mom & Shirley to Freemans this afternoon.
20 Sat. Did housework, etc. Mom, Dad & Wilma went to town this afternoon. I finished a letter to Bert, then lay down. Got supper ready. Ladies had a bazaar at Service Hardware this afternoon. Went to bed tonight.
21 Sun. Got up late. Very few at Sunday School and Church. Rained this afternoon, quite hard. We went to Stutts for supper. Had a nice time. Wilma & I stayed to do dishes. Bed reasonable time.
22 Mon. Holiday today instead of Wed. Didn’t wake up until 8.30. Did a little of everything this morn. I drove Mom & Shirley to Freemans this afternoon. Had lunch, didn’t get home til after five. Isabelle & I went to Stutts for supper. Four Lutzs, Dean & Neil were there. Had a perfect time. Willard sat on the piano bench most of the evening while I played. Took some pictures. Rained (poured) I walked up home in bare feet.
23 Tues. My throat is pretty foggy this morn. Dad brought us as far as McGugans, & we came to town, much to my disgust. Don’t feel well tonight. Delia was up for about half an hour. Doris was sleepy too. Bed before ten.
24 Wed. I felt terrible this morning, so stayed home from school. Got up about 10.30. Washed, dressed, studied, etc. Went to school this afternoon. Eveline was up at four. Went down town with Doris. Went to bed fairly early tonight. Still don’t feel so hot.
25 Thurs. We both went down town after four. Doris peeled potatoes when we came home. We went to Sorrells tonight. Mom & Mrs. Stutt called on us on their way to the show. We had some peanuts. Bed at 10.30.
26 Fri. Wrote a French and Literature test this morning. Had a spare last period as the boys were up having a lecture. Went down town with Doris after four, then stayed in town. Had my supper alone washed & rested, then went to Halbrite with Bob, Charlie, Kathleen & Peltier. Played for a good dance. Got $4.00 Home at 3.30

These are the diaries of a seventeen-year-old teenager from a farm near Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Her name is Lorraine. She eventually was a church organist in Colgate. In 1944 she was the piano player for a dance band in Weyburn. In these days before school busses she, and her sisters, each had to move from the farm into town to attend school for Grades 11 & 12. This is the darkest time in World War II. Weyburn hosted an airbase for BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan). In other words, the town is filled with eligible young airmen from all over the world …
