Bev’s parents, Bud & Lorna Seafoot, celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in the Fall 1999. At that time, they had 17 direct, living descendants. At Lorna’s funeral in early 2019, most of these descendants gathered again. By now the number had grown to 36 direct, living descendants (and the growth has subsequently continued!)

Until that time, I had thought in terms of kids, and grandkids and nieces and nephews, but during one of my last chats with Lorna, we discussed descendants …
Still, the reality of descendants for Bev and myself was outside our realm of consciousness. Then, suddenly, our first five grandkids began to “come of age”. I was reminded of the words in Moe Bandy’s song: “Let me watch my children grow to see what they become. Oh Lord, don’t let that cold wind blow till I’m too old to die young”.
We were now seeing what our children and grandchildren and nieces and nephews would become! There would be descendants – our descendants …
God promised Abraham: “I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore.” Genesis 22:17 (NLT).
This promise is not just for Abraham …
