(Index To All Diaries)
(scroll to the end of this post for a picture of the original diary entries in Mom’s handwritting)
These are the diaries of a seventeen-year-old teenager from a farm near Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Her name is Lorraine. She eventually was a church organist in Colgate. In 1944 she was the piano player for a dance band in Weyburn. She had to move from the farm into town to attend school for Grade 12. This is the darkest time in World War II. Weyburn hosted an airbase for BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan). In other words, the town is filled with eligible young airmen from all over the world …

Chris I saw something on there tonight that Ido know! Lorraine went to Weyburn for grades 11and12. We all did. I hadn’t noticed your comment before.
Winnifred Wollett I remember very well. When she came to stay she slept till 11A.M. And I was sitting on the stairs waiting for her to get up!
Can you tell me more about Winnifred Wollett? I had never heard the name before these diaries.
Shirley. Interesting to make people in photos real. I guess when one is in the forces, advantage is taken of the times you are allowed to escape roll call and sleep till you wake up.
