Forth and Clyde Canal

The Forth and Clyde Canal was opened in 1790. We visited two twenty-first century attractions along this ancient waterway: The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.

The birthplace of Tommy Douglas

This statue, like the statue in Weyburn, SK was dedicated by actor Kiefer Sutherland, grandson of T.C. Douglas.

My family, on both the Boyle and Butters side, has a strong history with iconic former Saskatchewan Premier Tommy Douglas and his wife Irma. Read more in my REVISED blog post HERE.

BOONDOCKING: as I examined one of the pictures above, I noticed a camping unit in the frame, and on closer examination, I realized there were two! So I wrote a quick blog post that you can read HERE.

We checked in for two nights at the Clachaig Inn in the heart of Glencoe amongst the mountains of the Scottish Highlands. Steeped in the history of the Jacobite Rebellion. Remembering the Glencoe Massacre.
