Day 0,1

In Bev’s Words … and all of our pictures.

Day #0 – Friday, June 14

Day #1 – Saturday, June 15 New Town

Moments after we stepped off the tram from the airport. Edinburgh Castle in the background. Two sons Mike & Craig, Daughter-in-law Gayleen, Bev and me

The search for an extension cord!

Mike and Craig (and Gayleen, as photographer) spent a few hours of our first day of vacation looking for extension cords for the cpap machines that both Mike and Chris use. Our hotel was a beautifully retrofitted building that had only one electric outlet per room, located at a distance from the bed. Difficult search in the touristy-boutique part of town. In fact it was difficult to explain to store staff what we desired. Mike and Craig finally came up with the term “sparky spreader.” No evidence that that improved the understanding, but it added a new term to the Boyle Handbook Of Useful Terms!

Meanwhile …

While Craig, Mike and Gayleen laboured in their search for the “sparky spreader” Bev and Chris adjusted to jet lag in a street bar.

Around New Town

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The New Town is a central area of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It was built in stages between 1767 and around 1850, and retains much of its original neo-classical and Georgian period architecture. Its best known street is Princes Street, facing Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town across the geological depression of the former Nor Loch. Together with the West End, the New Town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside the Old Town in 1995. The area is also famed for the New Town Gardens, a heritage designation since March 2001.[1]
