“forgiveness is a personal choice”
FORGIVENESS
Greetings to you all, we have winter weather here, snow and cold.
FORGIVENESS
This past Thursday I met with a lady who wanted to talk about forgiveness, regarding some friends of hers. She shared how that these people had come to a place in their relationship, where one lady was not welcome to be in their fellowship anymore. And she was looking for a way to bring about forgiveness and reconciliation between her friends.
And I said forgiveness is a personal choice, that she or I cannot make anyone forgive someone. All I said that we can do is read to them from God’s word, and what God says to us about forgiveness.
I said when someone hurts us through hurtful words or actions, we have to make a decision to forgive that person. But I also said it’s up to the person who’s done wrong to deal with it, and ask God for forgiveness and to overcome their wrongs, and then go to the person or persons that they had offended and ask for forgiveness.
And I quoted these verses from God’s word.
Colossians 3:12-13 (You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you.)
So I pray that we all would be willing to forgive those who offend us.
Praying that God will meet all our needs this week. Preaching at Wayside church this morning on pressing into God. Amen
