“You mean if I confess my lying and gambling to God that God would forgive me!“

Good morning everyone, looks like we will have a nice day after a stormy week.

He Blew It!

This past week I gave a man a ride to one of our Overcomers 12 step meetings. And on the way there he told me he wouldn’t be going to heaven when he dies. I asked why he felt that way, and he answered: I really blew it this time. He said I lied to my wife about our money, because I didn’t want her to know that I lost money gambling. And he ended up saying I know God is so angry at me for lying and gambling that I am done. He said I know God is going to send me to hell for sure. So I had a good talk to him about God’s love and mercy and grace. I was so happy when he said you mean if I confess my lying and gambling to God that God would forgive me! And I told him yes, God would forgive him, and I also told him he needed to talk to his wife about what he had done. And he said he would and ask his Pastor for help.

So we looked up this verse. 1John1:9 (But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins purify us from all our wrongdoing.) That man was overwhelmed that in Jesus Christ that God loves us so much we can be forgiven. I pray that if anyone reading this has unconfessed sin in their lives that they too will confess and receive God’s forgiveness.

Praying that God will meet all our needs this week.
