We walked Miss F. home. A car of men stopped & gave us a thrill Friday, September 1, 1944

26           Sat. Dad, Isabelle & I stooked all morn, then he went combining. Isabelle & I worked like the dickens & finished it at 4.15. Came in & Mom took us all to town including Edna & Doris. We got gas before seven, then went to the show. Maria Montez & Jon Hall in “Cobra Woman”. Mom, Doris & Shirley didn’t like it. Home at 9.30

27           Sun. I cleaned the house up this morn & did odd jobs. Dad didn’t go to church. Fairly small attendance. Donna & Doris Duncan took the service. Dad, Isabelle & I made ice-cream after church. McGugans came for supper. We kids sat in the car & talked. Had a nice evening. They had the chores done so stayed until nearly ten.

28           Mon. I went to Jean’s today with Dad & Mr. Stutt. We were into Stutts on the way. Saw Agnes & Ed. The girls went back to school today. Shirley started too. I helped Jean get the meals & kept Marjorie after dinner while she went to town. I came back with her before five as the girls were home from school then went to bed in reasonable time.

29           Tues. Did odd things this morn. Dad, Mom & I went to F. Lawrences after dinner to get the car fixed. Mom & I stopped off at Eltons & cleaned the place up a bit, then he took us down to Ellen’s. I had a boring time. We stayed for supper, then came home in Fred’s truck. Left the car there.

30           Wed. Usual work this morn. I had a snooze, then wrote letters & gave Shirley a lesson when she came home. Dad had picked some corn so the girls helped husk it & Mom canned 7 more quarts. Elton came over for supper. Talked until 9. Went home.

31           Thurs. I helped Dad stook the last back swath & slough of oats. Took about an hour & 15 min. Had dinner early, then Mom & I went to town. Had a flat on the way in. Went up to Stuarts to make arrange (sic) for me boarding there. I got a new end permanent at the Lounge. The girls went to Stutts with us after supper.

Sept 1    Fri. Dad fixed the bike, then I went to Jean’s with him after nine. Helped her, & kept Marjorie this afternoon. Jean had to meet Mr. Bowditch at the Corner as I came with her at 8.30.  Miss Farrell & Leila were here. I gave Leila a lesson & she stayed over night. We walked Miss F. home. A car of men stopped & gave us a thrill. I didn’t work very hard.
