Mom would have been 94 today. Today we switch gears and publish one-date-in-her-life over the five years of 1944 to 1948
My December 1 Birthday
Fri. 1944. Today I am eighteen. Mrs. Stewart invited Mom & Dad in for supper & Doris stayed. It was real nice. Ross gave me box with three bottles of perfume & Mr. & Mrs. S. gave me lovely stockings. We got home around 7. Played etc. til eleven. Folks gave me two sheets of music & a broach.
Sat. 1945. I am nineteen today. Is. gave me a gorgeous set of powder bags & two perfume bottles. I worked hard all day being the first of the month went for coffee with Mom & the girls. We all went Stutts for supper after work. Nice supper, but rather a boring evening. Doris gave me a lovely rose plastic picture frame. Bed at nearly ten.
Sun. 1946. How a year changes things. Keith was having breakfast when I got up. My family gave me a lovely signet ring with my birthstone on it. Another wish fulfilled. Doris gave me a maple leaf gold pin. We went down in Keith’s car & got Stutts for dinner. Then at 4 o’clock Keith & I came to town to Marg & Gords for chicken supper. Roda & Stan & Cal Johnson were there. Had a wonderful meal. We played Rummoli & dice. I really don’t like doing it on Sunday. Still had a good time. Archie came home with us. We walked in from the lane.
Mon. 1947. Another year passed & now I have a diamond. I don’t feel older, but wonderful. Mr Stutt brought Dad & we girls to town. I received some more cards in the mail. Was terribly tired, so set my hair, bathed & went to bed at 9.15. Asleep right away. Frances Freeman came up to the office to see me. Don’t remember her married name.
Wed. 1948. This year I have a Wedding Ring too. Keith gave me lovely pearl earrings. Much to my delight. Isabelle phoned to say she and Dot would be out. They got here about 4. Had a lovely time. They stayed for supper & part of the evening. Keith went to Orange Lodge. I was so glad they came.

Real nice idea Chris! I will have to see the ring some day. Can’t say I remember it. It is nice to hear Lorraine so excited, as she definitely was then. I was thinking of her and the family today. Love, Aunt Shirley
