The Well

Here is our water well, cleverly hidden by a miniature grain elevator that I had made for this specific purpose (thanks Uncle Al!). Many rural wells have creative covers which serve two purposes: 1) to make them look better; 2) to help prevent them getting run over since they are often in the open.

Our well is 68 feet deep and capable of 24 gallons/minute. It was dug by Friesens before we arrived here. We had to have it serviced twice, the last time about 18 years ago.

We also have a personal septic system, no picture (you’re welcome). It is a two stage system. Brilliantly designed. It uses naturally occurring enzymes in stage one and natural UV from the sun in stage two (I guess we can say it is solar powered!).
