Where’s Phoebe

by Beverly Boyle

29 years ago, when we moved from the City of Winnipeg to our home between Thalberg & Stead, I heard a bird calling “Phoebe” “Phoebe” Phoebe”. She, I call her she, but it was probably a male Eastern Phoebe calling to his future mate. Phoebe sang every early morning, and I started calling “Where’s Phoebe?” when he sang.

A few years later when we started having grandchildren I thought I would write a book for them called “Where’s Phoebe?”

Every summer we hosted “Cousin’s Camp and all of our family would get together for one week. We called it Cousin’s Camp as we really wanted all of our Grandkids (who lived in two different provinces) to have the chance to play together and build bonds for the future.

I took this series of pictures one summer in preparation for this book. Sadly, I never got the project done.

However, Chris found this series of photos today. They bring back such beautiful memories.

Meet Phoebe at her nest …

… Oh No! Where’s Phoebe?
