Vaccinated!

I got my Pfizer shot this week.

I think I feel a bit like my mother did on June 6, 1944 when she wrote “The Invasion of Europe started today. 11,000 men; 4000 ships. Doris played Wolf tonight & whistled at everyone who went by.“

At that point Mom didn’t know for sure how it would end, or how quickly it would end. However, the relief of these teenaged girls is palpable. There was hope.

History tells us that WWII continued for another 14 months. In subsequent diaries we learn that my Mom did learn of further deaths and injuries.

We don’t know how much longer this pandemic will continue. We don’t know how much closer it will come to us personally (we also got word this week that a good friend is fighting Covid-19 in a Calgary hospital).

But I do feel like trying to learn how to “Wolf Whistle,” like my Mom’s friend, Doris.
