About two years ago, I took up consistent walking, 1-2 hours per day. I have never been one to wear headphones while walking, so my only distraction is birds and trees and flowers (or snow and hoar frost!).
This offered a new opportunity for me to spend time with my brain. As a Christian, I also used the opportunity to enhance my communication with God.
These conditions provided a rich environment to Think!
I began to capture these thoughts in my OneNote app. Soon, I had an inventory of my thinking.
I then began to research the entire topic of Thinking and learned about the skill of Critical Thinking. My thinking tended to into our three major categories of Faith, Family and Community.
Each thought went through critical thinking filters on subsequent walks. Most were resolved within a few days, but some are still being processed months later.

As my Thought Inventory grew, I was led to develop processes for enhancing and sharing these thoughts. (Click here to read our editing and filtering guidelines.)
In October 2024 my regular posts were enhanced with “Quick Features” content provided by both ancestors and descendants. Thinker in the Woods is my contribution to these new features.
