“if anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

“From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.””

Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 

In the fullness of his sufficiency he will be in distress

The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth.

“Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

He has put eternity into man’s heart.

“they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

“But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”

Who can say, “I have made my heart pure; I am clean from my sin”?

The terror of a king is like the growling of a lion; whoever provokes him to anger forfeits his life.

“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.“

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.”

All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.

Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”

“You received without paying; give without pay.”

You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.”

People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world,

“Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.”

“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”

“All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.”

“Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.“

 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
