Trip To Japan
“Four Widows from Weyburn were on a conducted tour from Vancouver to Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Honolulu for 23 days. It was a wonderful experience seeing Temples, Budda’s, flower gardens, rice paddies, sampans, junks (where people are born, live and die) millions of children naked and otherwise. We saw a huge Punchbowl Cemetery, where thousands are buried and from there to a beautiful Salvation Army Tea Room where we had dinner it was a highlight as Christian Churches are so few. On our way home we spent a few days in Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna and really enjoyed visiting former Weyburnites.”
A note from Chris: “In the fall of 1968 I returned to Regina for my 2nd year of University and back to my room in the Wascana Student Housing Co-op. As autumn progressed, we young guys took an interest in the new girls that joined us this fall. I had noticed Bev, along with serveral other prospects. However, I had not had more than a passing connection with Bev. As Bev puts it: ‘You went home every weekend so missed the good parties.’ On my last day before the Christmas break, I finished an exam and went down to the dining room for a late lunch. At that point, Bev walked in with her Dad — who had come to take her home for Christmas — and Bev introduced me to Dad!! ( We started dating as soon as we returned from the Christmas Break)”
