Back to 1953

This is one of the first events for which I have a first hand memory.
The community hall had been in the 2nd floor of the two storey Colgate Co-op Store. The Co-op sold the building to the community and then the building was renovated to remove the 2nd storey and lower the roof onto the main floor. My personal role during the opening event was to pantomime the lowering of the roof by riding my little tractor with a rope attached to pulleys which lowered the roof on the small, on-stage replica.
