20090101  Thursday  High:     Low:     Sunrise 8:26,  Sunset  4:31  Re: Pine Falls MB sun times

Made it out to Mom and Blair’s for breakfast.  We had to snowshoe up the lane as we could not drive in by the pasture.  We enjoyed spending the day with Mom and  Blair.  Left a little earlier than we had planned as the wind got up even higher.  It was  a bitterly cold snowshoe back down the lane.  The wind managed to strip all the salt and dirt off the car and polished it to a bright shine.  Only on the wind side though.

20090102 Friday    High:      Low:      Sunrise 8:26   Sunset 4:32

We did not get out to Mom’s for breakfast as another storm was on the way.  We managed to beat the storm to Moose Jaw.  We settled in for the night and just enjoyed our wee holiday at Temple Gardens Spa.  It was fun to sit in the hot pool outdoors in the blizzard.

20090103 Saturday   High:     Low:

Still blizzarding by the time we left Moose Jaw but cleared up a little east of Regina. Home by 6:00 p.m.  A lot of snow here too.  The lane was quite heavy.  Glad to be home.

20090104 Sunday   High:      Low:      Sunrise 8:26  Sunset 4:34 – 7 minutes more daylight this week

It is a cold windy day.  Church then home to put all the tree decorations and other Christmas decorations away.  Chris did a lot of snow blowing.  I tackled laundry – enjoyed a little TV this evening.

20090105  Monday   High:     Low:      Sunrise 8:25   Sunset 4:36  Re:  Pine Falls Manitoba

A cold morning, -37 but bright and sunny.  A good day to get caught up with my office work.  I tried to find the time to get my sewing machine set up for all the quilting I need to get done.  Hopefully tomorrow.  Blair started his Semi Truck driving  training course today.

20090106 Tuesday   High:     Low:      Sunrise 8:25  Sunset 4:37

Happy Birthday Mom – 86 years old today.  I called Mom for her birthday; she was having a great day.  Blair is off to Swift Current for the next couple of weeks for his Driver Training, so he can drive Semi trucks. I managed to get started again on April’s quilt.

20090107 Wednesday   High:    Low:         Sunrise  8:25    Sunset  4:38

Just an ordinary January day.  Still a very cold winter.  We actually got into Winnipeg and did a few errands.  Visited with Mike, Gayleen and the boys.  We stopped in Selkirk for supper, an enjoyable evening.

20090108 Thursday   High:     Low:        Sunrise  8:24    Sunset  4:39

Bob Stenzil was over for a meeting with Chris this morning.  I spent much of the day working on April’s quilt.  I think I am beginning to like it.  The design is starting to show.

20090109 Friday   High:  Low:      Sunrise:  8:24    Sunset:  4:41

Haircuts today, just a quick trip into Beausejour for that.  Overcomers Outreach tonight.  There were 6 of us in attendance.  This is an excellent program.  Will it change my life?  Time will tell.

20090110 Saturday   High:   Low:     Sunrise:  8:23   Sunset:  4:42

Elders meeting for Chris this morning.  I did laundry and some work on the Overcomers 12 Step workbook, then worked on piecing April’s quilt.  We got in a snowshoe this afternoon.  The snow is very deep this year.  McPhee swims in it.  It’s kind of funny to watch.

20090111 Sunday   High:  -17   Low:  -23   Sunrise: 8:23   Sunset: 4:43   12 minutes more daylight this past week

Good church services then off to Altona to meet Ron, Leanne and Chantel for lunch.  The restaurant was busy, the service was slow, but it gave us time to visit.  Ron has agreed to go to Promise Keepers with Chris in March.  It is getting very cold tonight.  Down 2.5 pounds from last Sunday.

20090112 Monday  High: -18  Low: -32   Sunrise: 8:22  Sunset: 4:45

Attended the “Spring Tea” ‘cookbook’ meeting this morning.  It went very well.  Home to do some office work and get some quilting done.  It is cold and windy today.  It has been a bitterly cold winter so far.

20090113 Tuesday  High: -24  Low: -35   Sunrise:  8:21  Sunset:  4:46  I am now using the sunrise/sunset times for Pine Falls MB

My turn to take lunch to Bible Study today, so baked a cake this morning.  Chris got his contract with Alberta Justice.  It gives us enough work to take us to the end of March.  That is good news.  Now we have some organizing to do.

20090114 Wednesday  High: -25  Low: -32   Sunrise: 8:21  Sunset: 4:48

Our Winnipeg day, rush rush rush. We saw the movie “Gran Torino” and really enjoyed it.  Shopped for new shirts for Chris and suit pants tailored. Enjoyed supper with Mike, Gayleen, William and Ashton.  Very cold today with schools cancelled again today because of the cold and high wind chills.  -48

20090115 Thursday  High: -21   Low: -30  Sunrise: 8:20  Sunset: 4:49

Office work this morning.  Then I managed to get a couple of hours work done on April’s quilt.   Chris and Judy Otto were busy tying up all the details on the Edmonton workshop next week.  It has grown from 2 to 14 participants and the facility is too small for that many.

20090116 Friday  High:   Low:   Sunrise: 8:19  Sunset: 4:50

Warmed up somewhat today – but a strong south wind.  Overcomers Outreach this evening, but first the group met to go through the “12 Step” training session.  They met here for supper.  It was a good session.  I did laundry today and got organized for packing for our trip to Edmonton.

20090117 Saturday  High:   Low:   Sunrise:   Sunset:

Laundry today and final packing for our trip to Edmonton.  We even managed to get a batch of wine bottled.  Got the house tidied and we are ready for eleven days away.

20090118 Sunday  High: -2  Low: -18  Sunrise: 8:17  Sunset: 4:53   16 minutes more daylight this past week.

Our travel day to Edmonton.  Left McPhee with Mike and Gayleen.  It was a good flight though I was frustrated with the people who put their seats back into my space.  Great to see Craig and Dena and the children.  They have grown and changed a lot since August.

20090119 Monday  High: -5  Low: -19   Sunrise:  8:15   Sunset:  4:55

Caitlin and I spent the morning together as Dena did substitute teaching for Sean’s class.  Joshua Dunning was here for the afternoon.

20090120 Tuesday  High: -4  Low: -13   Sunrise: 8:15  Sunset: 4:57

IKEA day with Caitlin.  I baked cookies this morning and after lunch we headed to Ikea.  Caitlin to play at “Smalkids” and Dena and I to wander the store.  Caitlin kept the secret of our shopping trip from Sean and Kirena very well.

20090121 Wednesday  High: -4  Low:  -5   Sunrise: 8:14  Sunset: 4:58

We decided to paint Sean’s bedroom.  It was something to do.  He picked orange for a couple of walls and a dark blue ceiling to show off his solar system and stars.  Light blue was chosen for the other two walls. It was a fun day.  I went to bed real early.

20090122 Thursday  High: -4  Low: -17   Sunrise: 8:13  Sunset: 5:00

Cold and windy today.  We got the second coat of orange paint on Sean’s room.  Dena worked on the ceiling.  Sean and I played video games – I am learning a lot.

20090123 Friday  High: -17  Low: -25   Sunrise: 8:12  Sunset: 5:02

Dena and I had our day together – fabric shopping – wall paper shopping and lunch at “Kids in the Hall”.  We had supper with James and Jess at a great Indian food place.  The food was really good, and we had a great visit with them.  We all watched the first disc of “Love and Respect”

20090124 Saturday  High: -19  Low: -27   Sunrise: 8:11  Sunset: 5:03

Chris and I went off to buy him a new suit after breakfast.  That was an experience in Alberta customer service.  She knew what she was doing but was rather rude.  Craig and Dena went on a date.  The children and us watched a movie “Kung Fu Panda”

20090125 Sunday  High: -21  Low: -30   Sunrise: 8:10  Sunset: 5:05  19 minutes more daylight this past week

We attended James and Jessica’s church this morning.  It was a great service.  Dena, Jess and I had a fun afternoon at the “Bridal Fantasy” wedding show.  Jess got her wedding gown, veil and tiara.  This was quite an experience for me.

20090126 Monday   High: -21   Low: -28   Sunrise: 8:08   Sunset: 5:07

Ah Monday.  We finished priming the walls in Sean’s room and the first coat of paint on. Chris and I met Sally and Lynn for supper at “Louisiana Purchase”.  Finally got some money put into James and Jess’s  wedding account.

We finished painting Seans’ room and put up his glow in the dark stars arranged in constellations.  I helped with laundry and just enjoyed Caitlin.  It is quite a pleasant day outdoors in Edmonton.

20090128 Wednesday  High: -11  Low: -22   Sunrise:  8:06   Sunset:  5:10

Dena and I went to Beaumont to see Mel and Alec’ Dunnings’s brand new 4000 square foot home.  It was most magnificent.  In the afternoon we went to Walmart.  Chris and I went out for supper with Tim and Marie Owens.  We had a good visit and meal.  We also watched the kids’ skating lessons.

20090129 Thursday  High: -18  Low: -26  Sunrise: 8:04  Sunset: 5:12

Our day to travel home – but first a trip to the fabric store this time with Caitlin.  I think she will be a quilter as she had a breakdown in the store over some fabric.  Dena finally got her a couple of small pieces which Caitlin loved.  We arrived home by 9:30 p.m.

20090130 Friday  High: -7  Low: -23   Sunrise: 8:03  Sunset: 5:13

A rather crazy day for me today – so much office work to be done  (which got done in the afternoon) – a Tea Committee meeting – then supper at Bob and Jackie’s for the second of our “12 Step Program” study.  I also have a cold settling in.

20090131 Saturday  High: -.5  Low: -12   Sunrise: 8:02  Sunset: 5:15

My cold has fully developed today.  I worked most of the day on financials – finally got Chris’s invoice done.  We had quite a little wind and snowstorm midafternoon. Enjoyed a quiet evening.

20090202 Monday  High: -13  Low: -26  Sunrise: 7:59  Sunset: 5:19

Mostly office and personal accounting work today.  My cold is still developing so it is a good week to be at home alone.  The ground hog predicts 6 more weeks of winter – Ha-ha this is Manitoba after all.

20090204 Wednesday  High: -9    Low: -22    Sunrise: 7:56    Sunset: 5:22

I am still feeling unwell.  Ann Baker phoned – she is also under the weather. We commiserated with each other.  I spent most of the day piecing April and Curtis’s quilt.  Boring TV after supper – a strong south wind today.

20090209 Monday  High: +2    Low: -11    Sunrise: 7:47    Sunset: 5:31

Rainy – icy day – highways are in a terrible mess.  I cancelled my dental appointment – encouraged the postponement of the Tea Committee meeting and just stayed home for the day.  Quilt – quilt – quilt.

20090210 Tuesday  High: +4    Low: +.5    Sunrise: 7:46    Sunset: 5:33

Another day of rain and drizzle – at least the temperatures were warm enough that I could safely navigate to the barn.  Checked the lane, it looked icy to me so cancelled Ann Baker coming over for supper and going to Bible study.  I worked on my quilting project.

20090211 Wednesday     Sunrise: 7:44    Sunset: 5:34

Another grey day – cleaned house – phoned Chris’s Mom to see how the weather was treating her.  I am still not going out of the house.  We need a couple more inches of snow to cover all the ice – we got 6”.

Quite snowy by afternoon.  Ann Baker came over midafternoon and we enjoyed supper together.  However, when she went to go home – she slipped into the south ditch of the laneway. It had snowed enough to cover all the landmarks on the laneway. CAA managed to navigate the lane and tow her out.

20090225 Wednesday  High: -9    Low: -22    Sunrise: 7:17    Sunset: 5:59
