Pat & Barry, Don & Kathy, Mike & Gayleen & William here for Chris’s eggs benedict at 11:30 a.m. We had a great visit, a snowshoe & snack & everyone left by 4:00 pm. The highways are still very icy, so wanted daylight to drive in. A great day – how will 2004 treat us?

Quite a blizzard this afternoon and evening. The wind really blew and the old familiar snow drifts formed. I worked at catching up the payables for BGGI. I must get to Beausejour tomorrow for bird seed. I am completely out.

A sunny but very cold day. Puttered around the house then left for Beausejour about 2:00 for birdseed and groceries. The highways are still very icy. There is lots of snow in Beausejour. There was more snow the further south you go from yesterday’s storm.

Cold, cold, cold. We made it into Winnipeg for church, but the highways are still very icy – 70km most of the way. The streets in Winnipeg are not much better. We enjoyed lunch at Pat and Barry Senyks. William came along with us as we were Grandparenting. A good time was had by all.

Happy Birthday Mom, 81 years old today. Back to aerobics this morning- only 3 pounds gained- not bad for 5 Christmas dinners over the season. Spent the rest of the day creating the new payroll Excel spread sheets for 2004. Still cold out.

I finally got caught up on my office work. I went snowshoeing this afternoon. The snow was very deep in places. The dogs had no hesitation in following me. It was quite pleasant out.

I finally got around to phoning Mom. She is doing well. There is a lot of snow in the Shaunavon area this year. I started doing some house cleaning (the living room), started a toque for Kirena as she has taken over Sean’s Christmas one. I also started repairing Dena’s quilt for her.

Chris is back from Edmonton today. Also Kirena called me on the phone. It was a special treat to hear her voice. James ran the Taurus into a cement post at the Polo Park Mall parking lot. The air bags exploded which broke the front windshield. Will the car be written off?

We had to go to Beausejour today to stock up on dog and cat and bird food. We rented a movie for tonight “Windtalkers”. It was good but a graphic war story. Snowshoed this afternoon.

We did not go to church today, spent the day reorganizing jobs now that Chris is away teaching. I made some soup to freeze for lunches. We also snowshoed.

We left at 7:20 a.m. to take Chris to the airport with stops at Walmart, Staples, the Bank and Mike and Gayleens. I dropped Chris off at the airport shortly after 11:00 a.m. and came home. The highways are still slippery. Went to Bible Study this evening.

Aerobics again this morning. Ann Baker stayed and had lunch with me afterwards. By mid afternoon the snow started. We had about 15 centimeters by evening. An Alberta clipper. I was smart and hauled in 2 wagonloads of firewood before the snow started.

Trevor had to use the 4 wheel drive on his truck to get up the driveway this morning. I shoveled a walkway to get into the house for Judy and Kelly to get to work. I decided not to go to TOPS tonight. Enjoyed my evening by the fire.

Wow more snow and with a SE wind so we have new drifts. Time will tell whether I get the car out of the garage tomorrow to go get Chris at the airport.

I left at 7:00 a.m. and arrived at the airport at 8:45. The city streets were very very icy but I made it. Picked up James and dropped him off at work after an early lunch at Earl’s. On our way home in the early afternoon and encountered another lot of snow on the way. We got stuck coming up the lane, so Chris got the snowblower going.

I slept in today and had a very leisurely day. Just puttered around getting various chores done. We had another 6 inches of snow yesterday.

Yay the sun now sets after 5:00 p.m. You can see the days are starting to lengthen. Up and off to Winnipeg this morning as I am going to babysit William. Chris went to the United Way to chart a “project” for them, and it is a practice job for him. We were home by 3:00 p.m.

To aerobics this morning. It is snowing again. Received another 6 cms or more. There were not very many of us at aerobics – cold and the highway is still very icy.

Cold and very windy. Schools were closed because of blowing snow. Judy Otto came in and did some work. The drifts around the farm remind me of the winter of 1997. That was the first winter we experienced here.

Off to Winnipeg today. Our first stop at the MPI compound to collect our personal belongings from the Taurus – which has been written off. I was sad to see it in its broken state. Then we went to see a movie. We had a great day together.

Chris is back in the city this morning for another session with the United Way. Then he was off to Beausejour for a haircut. Home by 3:00 p.m. Harold Peters phoned late in the afternoon to let Chris know that he is retiring from the Ben Graham Group Inc. We are sad.

We went to Pine Falls for lunch at the Coach Room with Alex and Dora Cross. We really enjoy their company. Home by about 2:30, then did some chores together. It was a pleasant but cold day. No wind and lots of sun.

The weather forecast is not good – a blizzard warning. We did not go to church because Chris wanted to go into Winnipeg today to make sure he catches his plane to Saskatoon tomorrow. It was rather an unsettling day.

Well, the blizzard forecast for today never happened. Though the I 29 in the states was closed. I noticed the roof has a lot of snow on it. The stack is almost covered. I hope it doesn’t cause trouble – at least till Friday when Chris gets back to get the ladder up. Bible Study at Dora Cross’s.

Went to aerobics this morning. I have started to lose weight again, 3 pounds this week. I came home and hauled in firewood. It is to snow and get very cold tonight. Predicted windchills between -40 to -50.

Brr – so cold with the windchill it is -47 to -50. Schools cancelled. I spent a lot of time in the basement with the wood stove. But one of the blessings, the lane has blown a little clearer. It is not as difficult to navigate. Fed the birds twice today.

So cold this morning. We left about 2:15 p.m. for Winnipeg. We picked up William at the sitters (Lovin) and then he rode around with us. We went to Pat and Barry Senyks for supper. Later un the evening we attended the social for Craig Jones at the Vertigo Club. Stayed till about 10:15 and home by 11:00. It was a good time.

To church (Garden Park Baptist) – we are in the midst of renovations and creating new Sunday School rooms and enlarging the sanctuary. We had lunch at Dairy Queen and then home. We went snowshoeing. It was a tough go as the snow is so deep.

Aerobics this morning. We went to the city about 4:00 p.m. to attend a financial investment seminar at “Tavern on the Park” in Assiniboia Park. Though it was a cold evening it was lovely out. We enjoyed the seminar, the food and looking at the artwork beforehand.

Back to Winnipeg today. Chris had a meeting with the United Way. We picked up James at Hotel Fort Garry and back to Beausejour for my TOPS meeting. I have not been to a meeting since before Christmas, so it was great to be back.

Happy Birthday Blair, 35 years old. Up early and had James into the dentist by 8:00 a.m. to have his 4 wisdom teeth out. I got a few groceries afterward. James just rested for the rest of the day. A south wind brought in some warmer temperatures.

Back to Winnipeg this afternoon. We noticed a vibration in the car with the higher speed. Stopped at Canadian Tire and had a wheel balancing done. There was also some ice buildup on the rear tires. There was a Deacons meeting at the church tonight, a potluck, I have been appointed the minutes taker.

Guess what! A day at home. Slept in, read a book, and went snowshoeing. A bright sunshiny day. I did laundry and worked on compiling the minutes of the Deacons meeting and getting them e-mailed off. More book reading this evening.

In for church this morning, then enjoyed lunch with Mike and Gayleen. We came home shortly afterwards. We need to get packed for our trip to BC this week. I don’t have the sunrise/sunset times today so cannot calculate the extra daylight this week.

Bible Study this morning. I hurried home to get some BGGI work done and we left for the city by 4:00 p.m. We had supper at Moxies, then picked up James and he drove us to the airport hotel. I felt rushed most of the day.

We caught our morning flight and arrived in Castlegar BC about 1:30 p.m. I cannot believe how beautiful it is here, about +4 C, sunny and there is no wind. I liken it to a Swiss mountain village. It is mountainous, sunny and a relaxed environment.

First day of Chris’s workshop. I left the hotel about 10:00 a.m. and wandered downtown Trail BC. It is quite mountainous and the houses are situated quite high on the mountain side. There are stairs up the hills to connect the various streets, the steps have roofs on them.

I spent a relaxing day at the hotel “Best Western Terra Nova”. They have an exercise room, and I have been using the treadmill daily. More shopping today. We enjoyed supper at a great restaurant in Rossland “The Mountain Gypsy”. It was wonderful food and presentation.

Chris’s workshop, an in-house with Teck Cominco, went well. He was done by 2:30,so we went on a two-hour drive to Nelson BC. It was a circle drive and the scenery was great. The weather is so spring like this week. I notice the sun shines only about 3 hours (between mountains).

We left the hotel about 8:30 and travelled to Castlegar. The weather was snowy and foggy and we weren’t sure if the plane would land as it is a “visual landing” airport. The plane must land between 2 mountains. We arrived in Winnipeg at 9:00 p.m. to a temperature of -28.

We did not go to church today as Chris has to leave again today at 3:30 for a two week consult in Toronto with Teck Cominco. We washed clothes, repacked, chopped and hauled in firewood and blew snow. We made it to the airport in time to have lunch. Michael and Gayleen announced another baby is on the way.
